The Okanagan Dream Rally on Sunday, August 4th, 2019 was a big success with thousands of spectators in downtown Kelowna this weekend.
This is an amazing cause, giving the chance for a child battling terminal illness or dealing with other hardships to go for a ride in a high-end supercar. They ride from Kelowna to Penticton and back, enjoying some Okanagan sun and bonding time with their driver.
NAI Okanagan was proud to be a double sponsor of the Okanagan Dream Rally 2019.
Our own Mike Geddes was there to participate in all the action.
This is the 4th annual event, which raises money for KGH, JoeAnna’s House and Ronald McDonald House. The Dream Rally has grown each year, and the community support has been incredible.
They surpassed their fundraising goal this year $500,000 and have raised approximately 1.6 million in the four years since the first year.
Quite the surprise, two Royal Canadian Air Force CT-155 Hawk aircraft flew over the bridge at the start of the rally.
Seeing all the supercars crossing William R. Bennett Bridge was quite a sight to behold.
This year, the Dream Rally had 200 cars participate and 200 kids had the experience of a lifetime.
Matt August, co-founder of the August Family Foundation said: “It brings tears to my eyes just talking about it. The kids are all at a really malleable time in their life, and if we can do just one little thing, it could change their entire life.”
“Our mission with the Okanagan Dream Rally is simple. We want to put a smile on the face of a child in need and provide them with a day that they will never forget. With the help of incredible drivers, sponsors, and those donating towards this event, we are able to raise funds for causes that have a profound impact in our community.”
Make sure to check out the Okanagan Dream Rally again next August, it is truly a community event and a sight to see!
